Christmas jumpers, sweaters and dam ugly jumpers!

Christmas jumpers, sweaters and dam ugly jumpers

Friday December the 16th is Christmas jumper day, a day when we get to show off our silly side and raise lots of money for an amazing cause. Save the children is a truely wonderful charity doing incredible work all over the world to save and improve the lives of the most vulnerable children. Every year millions of children don't get to see their 5th birthday as they fall victim to easily treatable diseases like pneumonia, malaria and diarrhoea. Children are forgotten or abandoned because they are disabled or girls or born in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is unacceptable and save the children will continue to work on bringing essentials such as food, education, protection and healthcare to millions of the worlds most vulnerable children.

Christmas jumpers first became popular in the 1980s with tv personalities such as Timmy Mallet and Giles Brandreth wearing them. However singers such as Val Doonican and Andy Willaims were also famous for wearing them on their Christmas Specials tv shows. In the 80s these jumpers were often handmade and by the 1990s and 2000s they had become less popular and were often seen as joke presents for Dads. (Even Bridget Jones' Dad was seen wearing one in the film.) However in the 2010s they began a camp resurgence and by 2012 it was reported that 41% of the British population owned one. High street retailers were reporting sky rocketing sales and even higher end retailers such as Burberry and Jil Sander joined in on the trend.
These days however it doesn't just stop at jumpers. The festive clothing range is massive with not just socks and ties as you would expect but underwear, dresses, baby grows and hats. In fact if you think of it then you can probably find it. So why not go for broke and dress yourself in Christmas head to toe
